Main research directions and specialties: gastrointestinal neoplasms and minimally invasive abdominal surgery. Dr. Sun has worked as a senior surgeon for over 22 years, with an average of 1800 outpatient visits, 800 inpatient admissions, and 500 surgeries annually. Dr. Sun performed the world’s 3rd da Vinci robot-assisted small bowel autograft genital tract reconstructive surgery, the world’s first endoscopic-assisted magnetic compression recanalization of rectal atresia, and Northwest China’s first robotic radical left hemicolectomy using the NOSES approach. Currently, Dr. Sun is a member of IASGO, a standing committee member of the Chinese Medical Association Popular Science Branch, the Vice President of the Chinese Medical Doctor Association Popular Science Branch, the President of China NOSES Alliance Shaanxi Branch, the Vice President of Shaanxi Health Care Association/Chairman of Gastrointestinal Disease Prevention Committee, etc. Dr. Sun has held 6 National Natural Science Foundation projects, 8 Shanxi provincial scientific research projects and has completed 3 audio-visual textbooks and CAI courseware for the Ministry of Health. Dr. Sun has won the first, second, and third achievement awards within the provincial science and technology discipline and has published more than 200 academic papers, with over 40 papers included in the SCI database. Dr. Sun is the chief editor of the second edition of General Surgical Oncology and the editorial board member of 9 influential medical monographs.
