Professor Yupei Zhao is an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and an expert in the field of pancreatic surgery at Peking Union Medical College Hospital (PUMCH) and serves as honorary president of Peking Union Medical College Hospital, Peking Union Medical College (PUMC). He serves as the president of the Chinese Medical Association and the vice-chairman of the Ninth Chinese Association for Science and Technology. He has advocated a multidisciplinary model of treatment (MDT) for pancreatic diseases and has led his team to make systematic and pioneering contributions in the field of general surgery, especially pancreatic diseases. He has twice been awarded by the second prize of National Science and Technology Progress, China. And he is chosen as an alternate member by the 18th and 19th of the CPC Central Committee. He also serves as the editor-in-chief of Chinese Journal of Surgery (CJS), the editor-in-chief of Journal of Pancreatology. He has been awarded honorary fellowship by International College of Surgeons, honorary fellowship by North American College of Surgeons, honorary fellowship by Royal College of Surgeons of England, honorary fellowship by Hong Kong College of Surgeons, and fellowship Ad hominem by Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
